Disco Ensemble are off to a massive headliner tour both in Finland and Europe in September. By far, more than 30 concerts in over 10 countries have been confirmed and there are still more to come. Check the dates here.

CALLISTO IN STUDIO

Callisto have just started to record their upcoming new album at Studio Mankku in Porvoo and at Victory Studio in Kokkola. The album will be produced, recorded and mixed by Jonas Olsson who has also worked with the band on the previous Callisto albums.

The studio sessions will be completed in Mid-August, and the yet untitled album is due in the beginning of 2009.

Ismo Alanko Teholla and Jonna Tervomaa release a duet single 2x1=1 on July 30th. The song was performed publicly for the first time a bit over a week ago when Tervomaa surprise guest starred Ismo Alanko Teholla concert at Ruisrock. 2x1=1 can now be heard on Ismo Alanko's Myspace.

2x1=1 MCD includes four additional songs: two previously unreleased Ismo Alanko Teholla tracks, the title song's album version and a live recording of the single release Puupää. The MCD is also available as a signed and numbered version of only 150 copies at our web store.

Fullsteam Records, Pixoff, Provisual and Sub looked for an editor for the new Ismo Alanko Teholla -music video of Räkäistä ja tarttuvaa through a contest where the contestants were given material shot by the camera crew led by Harri Haanpää and otherwise a free hand in processing the video.

The fourth Pitkä kuuma kesä campaign approaches as we move towards summer. Taking place all over Finland in multiple forms, the campaign kicks off with an opening party Ska Treatment II on May 31st and goes on all the way ‘til September.

We are proud to announce some very special additions to Ilosaarirock’s bill. The multiply skilled American musician Mike Patton arrives at Joensuu with one of his newest projects, Mondo Cane. The band play Italian pop music from the 50’s and the 60’s and they will be backed up by a purpose-built Ilosaarirock Sinfonietta. The bill will also be reinforced by the Finnish alternative rock band Lapko.

The second Lost in Music -festival has announced its first performers. Occupying Tampere’s gig venues from October 22nd to 25th, the festival bill features Black Bile, Bloodpit, Disco Ensemble, I Was A Teenage Satan Worshipper, Ismo Alanko Teholla, Jesse, Kastor, Pintandwefall, Sturm und Drang and The Wrecking Queens.

Last year, Lost in Music took over 11 gig venues in Tampere and gathered together almost 100 bands, artists, dj’s and 10,000 festival guests. The ticket sale starts later in the summer. Lost in Music festival is organised by Fullsteam Agency and Music & Media.

We are extremely proud to announce that Disco Ensemble are the first Finnish band ever to play the huge Warped Tour in the United States. Warped Tour is a touring music and extreme sports festival that takes place from June to August and features up to 100 bands a show. The mega tour includes artists from various genres from ska to hardcore, and the 2008 bill features the likes of Against Me!, Pennywise and Rise Against to name but a few. Disco Ensemble will play some 20 shows during July, precise dates can be found at Shows.

The American alt-country artist Phosphorescent will hit Kuudes Linja on April 28th. The forthcoming concert will be the first in Finland for this singer/songwriter. Tickets 12 €, pre-sale at Tiketti.

TURBONEGRO (NOR) CANCELLED SHOWS

Due to a serious illness of Euroboy, the guitarist of the Norwegian death punk band Turbonegro, all future Turbonegro concerts have been cancelled so far. Hence the band will not be able to perform on the forthcoming Volcom Tour Europe and so the planned two concerts in Finland, Tampere, Pakkahuone April 7th and Helsinki, Nosturi April 8th are cancelled. Valient Thorr and Year Long Disaster are not coming to Finland on those dates either. Turbonegro will work on rescheduling the dates later but at the moment, all tickets can be returned to box offices they were bought from.

Stoner rock band Mustasch will hit Tavastia on May 9th. This Swedish Grammy -award winning group last visited Finland in February. Tickets 16 €, pre-sale starts at Tiketti tomorrow.

Tarja Turunen will play her first club gig at Tavastia on June 3rd. The concert is part of the artist's Tarja-Storm in Europe 2008 -tour and will be the only chance to see her live in Finland this spring. Tickets 35 €, pre-sale starts at Tiketti on March 20th.

The American alternative rock band Kill Hannah will play their first concerts in Finland as a warm-up act for the horror rock band Aiden at Nosturi on April 20th and 21st. Anti-Flag will arrive at Finland in July to play a festival gig at Ruisrock. The band, well-known for their political activism, have previously played two gigs in Finland. Ruisrock takes place in Ruissalo, Turku, from Jul 4th to Jul 6th.

MEDEIA SIGN WITH FULLSTEAM RECORDS

Finnish alternative death metal band Medeia has signed with Fullsteam Records. Over the last couple of years the group with the organic, modernly heavy sound has become one of Finland's most talked about up-and-coming metal bands, and the expectations for Medeia are being raised to new heights with this recent deal.

Medeia will first release an as yet unnamed MCD in April which will soon be followed in autumn by the band's highly anticipated full-length album. Medeia previously released a self-financed, now sold-out record in 2006 titled "Quantum Holocaust: World Domination".

John Spencer's and Matt Verta-Ray's Heavy Trash will play with The Micragirls and Black Magic Six at Tavastia on March 3rd. Tickets 17 euros, pre-sale at Tiketti.

Swedish hardcore band's NINE and Path of No Return had to cancel their whole tour in Finland. Here's band's statement:

"Regretfully we have to announce that NINE and Path of No Return's upcoming tour of Finland is forced to be postponed.

The reason for this late decision is strictly family related and a cancellation was the only option at this point. We really want to extend our apologies to the promoters and the people that bought tickets.

Ska punk band Reel Big Fish (USA) and Irish punk rockers The Tossers (USA) will share stage at Tavastia on February 11th. Tickets 16 euros, pre-sale starts at Tiketti on November 6th.

TIGER ARMY (USA)

Psycho-punk band Tiger Army returns Finland on April 8th. The band played here last spring in sold out Nosturi - this time the venue will be Tavastia. Tickets 20 eur, pre-sale starts in Tiketti on November 7th.

Also Swedish avant/noise band Skull Defekts have confirmed show at Semifinal on December 6th.

ISMO ALANKO IN STUDIO

Ismo Alanko and percussionist Teho Majamäki have entered studio. During the next few weeks they are recording the upcoming Ismo Alanko album which will be released in early 2008.

The producer is Jori Sjöroos (PMMP, Magenta Skycode), sound engineer Mikko Raita (Tuomo, SMG) and mixer S. Husky Höskulds (Norah Jones, Fantomas, Tom Waits).

DOWNSTAIRS JOINED FULLSTEAM FAMILY

Today we are happy to announce that Downstairs have joined Fullsteam Family: the band signed record deal last weekend. At the moment Downstairs are recording their debut album which will be released in the beginning of 2008.
